(More customer reviews)I replaced a stacked GE Spacemaker laundry center with a Fagor FAS-3612 after the town cited me for improper venting. As I'm moving shortly and either selling or renting, I wasn't interested in doing extensive remodeling to meet code. Luckily, the Fagor became available around the time I began my search. I ordered it from AJ Madison and was satisfied with them.
There was an existing 240V circuit for the old unit that figured heavily in my buying decision. Most of the new combination units run on 120V, which seems wimpy given the physics involved in washing and drying clothes. The Fagor requires a 240V NEMA 6-15R receptacle and draws 10 amps. If not for the modest changes to the existing wiring, particularly if I only had 120V, I would have gone with an LG.
Installation
The machine heats its own water and needs just a cold water hookup, so I capped off the hot. The included hose leaked like a sieve from the connector no matter how hard I tightened it. I reused a Watts anti-flood hose. Installation was otherwise uneventful.
A mounting bolt cover on the back of the machine was broken on arrival. It's hidden, so no big deal.
My only other note is the machine fits in approximately the same footprint as the GE but is half the height. The old machine hid all kinds of nastiness behind it. Since it's in finished space, I'm trying to get it presentable. The door opening is very low; the top of the machine is counter height and can be removed to mount under a counter.
Washing
The Fagor washes very well and has a lot of features, too many to list. Because it has no agitator, it holds markedly more than the GE. I didn't appreciate this until I washed bedding.
There are no settings for temperature and water level, per se. Instead, you select a program from a dial and then modify it as you need. The program is a template that works like a Chinese restaurant menu: #5 gets you a normal 140oF wash; push some buttons to get an intensive wash, easy iron, extra rinse, etc. I've settled on one setting for whites and another for colors. It will heat up to 194°F should the need arise.
Detergent goes in one of three troughs depending on whether it's pre-wash, wash, or fabric softener. The manual says you need an optional accessory to use liquid detergent but tech support disputed that and I've used liquid since.
The manufacturer recommends a mixture of small and large items. I had one incident where the machine could not balance the load, but then washed identical loads several times after with no problem. It goes through its business unobtrusively, except when it spins up like a turbine to dry. It has a clear door and I like watching it work.
Total cycle time, including "drying," ranges between 1:10 and 1:30. There is no need to transfer clothes from washer to dryer because it all happens in the same drum, but there is also no way to wash one load while drying another.
Drying
This is in no way, shape, or form a dryer. The best I can call it is a water extractor, or high-tech wringer that spins clothes at 1200 RPM. The clothes come out damp, albeit markedly dryer than from a conventional washing machine. This is just how this type of machine works. After the town cited me, I was forced to use a clothes rack and hoped to be rid of it. Oh well. In response to my inquiry, the manufacturer advised me not to overload the drum. No question that smaller loads dry better. Anyhow, I've had the machine a couple of months as of this writing and have gotten used to it. You should be able to hang things in your closet straight from the Fagor, with everything else going on a rack. Panasonic's NA-VR1000 is a similar unit but with an efficient heat pump dryer. If it ever comes stateside and isn't exorbitant, the Fagor may be a tough sell.
One feature I use often is delayed drying. The machine runs the wash cycle and soaks the clothes until you push a button to start the 10-minute drying cycle.
Other comments
Maintenance is fussy. You're supposed to leave the door open a while after you're done so the machine can dry out. My main complaint is a lint filter at the bottom of the machine, which requires periodic cleaning. Once you open it you will have water spewing as if from a garden hose. The manual suggests catching it with a plate, but there is no clearance between the filter and the floor. Not sure what they were thinking.
These combination units are markedly more efficient and sophisticated than the old-style stacked ones, like comparing a '79 Ford and '10 BMW. I like the controls and display. Electric usage is pegged at 115 KWH per year and water usage is also light. Downside is the old units have a good track record and the new ones will have to establish themselves. I know that front-loaders are typically less reliable.
Overall
The acid test is whether I'd buy it again? The answer is, yes.

I had to do some guess work as to which wire connected to which prong but it looks like I guessed correctly. This generic thermostat replaced the one I had, just was configured a little different. Overall, I think this was a great buy. I've used my stove a handful of times since I replaced the part and haven't had any problems.

Sounds like a good deal, but it is a style being discontinued. I learned this when buying the refill. At the time the company was organize.com. Amazon had a different company listed today.
My refill needs to be A11. This was listed on the cardboard that came on the mop. Had I called Organize.com and verified, I would have found that the refill they had was A5.
I returned the A5 refills and ordered A11 directly from Casabella.
I absolutely love my mop. A11 refills are sturdy metal grooves that slide into the mop head. A5 refills are plastic grooves and do not work for my mop. Casabella will discontinue the A11s once the supply is sold out.
So I ordered 10 refills from Casabella to stock up and maximize my shipping fee. [...]. (BTW, they are a good company also.) I wish Casabella had not changed mops and refills. But the bottom line is they still make one of the best mops and I will switch when I have to. This mop is much better than what you can find in Walmart or Target. You will be pleased with the product.

A mop is only as good as its sponge head, and when yours is past its prime it may not get the job done as easily and efficiently. What a good idea to have a spare ready and waiting for its turn at the business end of the mop.

I use a home made solution of 1 cup of Sudsy Ammonia, 1 pint of Rubbing Alcohol, 2 Tablespoons of liquid Dishwashing soap and then adding enough water to make 1 gallon of the solution. was a workhorse, but the Fisher and Paykel is light-years ahead of it. No need to set the
water level, the machine figures it out (you can override it if you wish). No need to set
the wash temperature, it's done for you (you can change its default). Unbalanced load?
Machine takes care of it.
There's some serious technology here. They use a brushless DC motor to power the tub. Unusual,
considering there's AC right out of the wall. But this allows speed control without clutches or
pulleys, and since the motor is connected directly to the tub, there's no belt either. Energy Star?
Of course.
At the end of the cycle, it spins amazingly fast, and the clothes come out significantly drier
than you'd expect. Less work for the dryer to do. We have yet to generate a load the machine
couldn't handle.
Needless to say, I'm impressed.

We recently had some near misses due to extreme rainfall in Northwest Indiana. Our dated sump pump, of the kind with battery backup, what slowly kicking it and we decided we needed to have the next one ready and waiting some the day it would croak.
Naturally, being a bargain hunter, I set out to find the cheapest possible solution. That, however, is not wise when dealing with potential water damage. We ordered this one given the HP listed, the dirty water cability and most importantly the price.
About this item
It looks like a common sump pump except that it seems slightly wider. Also, the 'floater' seems to have more leeway that with a normal run of the mill pump. It comes with a few extra adapters so you can hook it up easily. Our findings are that the floater tube is long and floats freely. The width of the pump is slightly more than that of our current battery backed pump which made it difficult to put in. Also, the connectors are in an 'odd' place so we had to get extra rubber pieces to make it connect.
The pump is loud when pumping out and seems to click on and off alot. Seems to be in the electric design of the floater unit. It does , however, handle dirty water well and the HP power is sufficient.

Conclusion
I would not buy this as my only main sump pump. I would but this as a back up and use it with the hose connector in case I would need to pump a pond or so empty. The reason: it seems very plasticky. Not very high GPH either. Overall, though, given the price, I consider this better than the lowest grade Home Depot or Menards sold pumps (which DO NOT last more than 2 years). If more expensive I would ahve given this 3 stars nut given the 50$ I give this ****.

(More customer reviews)I'm not sure if I got a defective pump or if the pump design just isn't good. Worked great for about 20 minutes blasting away then suddenly lost power noticeably. Oil level is fine...checked water flow rate out of spigot before ever using the pump, fills a 5 gallon bucket in half the time listed as a minimum. I'm wondering if it is a heating problem causing friction in the valves, as from a cold start it is at high pressure then drops SUDDENLY after the pump warms up. Pump never gets too hot in my opinion, if anything it feels like the coolest running pump I have ever used.
As a side note, pump did not come as pictured... it was missing the silver pressure hose connection. Thankfully connections seem to be universal and was able to use the fitting from the old pump.
I do need to add though that the pump looks to be well manufactured...clean casting, an nice machining...not sure why mine is problematic. Was also a breeze to install.

(More customer reviews)I have owned a few Karchers. My old unit broke during some deck cleaning - it was probably about 5 years old. I ended up ordering an FAIP because there were several good reviews on it. I quickly regretted buying the FAIP PWS1750 unit.
I promptly returned the unit to Amazon and ended up buying this Karcher unit. It is considerably more money, but I believe it is worth it. It exudes much better quality in many ways over the FAIP. The high pressure hose reel is a great feature- this is the feature that sold me. Unlike the FAIP PWS1750, the hose stays connected when you reel or un-reel the hose - I mean, isn't that how a hose reel is supposed to work? It makes it very easy to put away (I only wish the power cord did the same thing).
The optional T-racer surface cleaner attachement is much better than the FAIP's ultra cheap PowerWash Broom.
It is on the high end for an electic power washer price wise, but also quality wise. You know the old saying; you get what you pay for. This unit is made in Germany whereas the FAIP is made in China.
This is my 3rd Karcher; the only weakness of most Karchers is the garden hose connection. It is not very robust and can break off if you don't take it easy -I don't know why they have not beefed that up over the years.

Other than a few additional bells and whistles on my model, the two washers are pretty much identical, so I feel my warning comments regarding the washer I had the misfortune to purchase will be of use to someone considering purchasing this one.
This might be a great washer for someone who does not own pets, but if you have pets as I do (two cats), run from this thing like the plague! It has no clue how to remove pet hair from clothing.
My old washer had a strainer on top of the agitator that caught hair and lint as it was carried by the recycling water during the wash and rinse cycles. This thing has no way to remove pet hair and lint except to strain it through the clothing as it drains water at the end of each cycle. The result is that whatever pet fur and lint had been removed just settles back onto the clothing; the best it can do is redistribute the pet fur and lint. It's discouraging to have to "lint roll" freshly washed clothes so that they are presentable for wearing. It's even more discouraging to know that the 25-plus year old "antique" that I threw away was far, far more effective in removing hair from clothing than this modern marvel.
I even e-mailed Maytag with my complaints. They had no answers, just suggestions that I use the bulky setting to bring more water into the tub (and thus offset the water savings I was told I would get) and use more detergent--both of which I'd tried in vain before contacting the company.

The envion's model, though simple in operation and rich in design, lacks certain basic features like what the other model from Soleus Air offers. Features like fan-only option, digital display and controls for timer and auto-shut off, oscillation ( a basic feature expected of a fan/heater), and the ability to set the heat settings to a desired temperature level are something commonly expected in a heater but none of these are supported on this model. For the price it is being sold in the market at different stores, lack of these features on this model makes it a spend-more-for-less option while thinking of buying a heater with humidifier.

Yesterday, the motor in my Venta unit began making a grinding sound after nearly six year of flawless operation. I called Venta customer service this afternoon. After wating a rather long time on hold, I was connected to a very pleasant man, George, who asked me to put the phone next to the motor so he could hear the noise. I did, and he did.
Without a moment's hesitation, George said he would have a new motor shipped at no cost to me, and that delivery could be expected within 5 - 7 business days.
It's always a pleasant surprise to find a company standing unquestioningly behind their warranty. If only more understood that's all it takes to create loyal customers.

I'm pleased to report , my review, below, is still true in every detail. This product has been a terrific investment.

I live in a desert~like New York City apartment and have owned my Venta Air Washer for almost exactly two years. During this time it has been operating on the "high" setting, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The Air Washer lives up to all of the manufacturer's claims.
The Air Washer is a product of fanatical German engineering, over~design and bullet~proof construction, which accounts for it's rather grotesque price. However, I have owned products of inferior engineering and construction that have had to be replaced after one or two seasons. It is obvious I will own my Air Washer for many years to come.
The principles of operation could not be more simple (it's like a High School science project developed into a luxury product):
1) A fan blows room air straight down into a reservoir of water.
2) In this reservoir of water, a few dozen disks are slowly rotating to multiply the surface area that is wet.
3) Because you are blowing air onto a enlarged wet surface you are multiplying the rate of evaporation.

THIS WORKS.
On the "high" setting the water reservoir needs to be refilled daily in my apartment (this is highly dependent on your local weather or heating cycle). I end up carrying a couple gallons of water to the device or carrying the device to the bathtub and then back to its spot in my livingroom.
The design of the Air Washer is "neutral." It sits unobtrusive and un~noticed in a corner. It is nearly silent. It is built like a tank: It would be a challenge to damage this product on purpose.
Why not Five Stars?
The Venta Air Washer consumes expendables. You need a water treatment solution to prevent mineral deposits forming on the rotating disks mentioned above (weekly). AND you need a periodic cleaning solution to remove deposits that develop pn the bottoms and walls of the reservoir. I have tried operating the Air Washer without these things. They are required for optimal performance.
Like the device itself, the Venta treatment and cleaning solutions work perfectly and simply. But, THE EXPENDIBLES ARE EXPENSIVE! Assume youy will spend US$50.00 per year.
Also, you would think that for a company selling a FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR humidifier, the Venta aroma therapy scents would smell a bit less like a Central American bordello (not that I've ever seen one of those). Skip these even if they're free samples.
If you want the very best at any price, buy this product.

I just exchanged the older model in for this cause it just came out in time while i can still return my other one. Not that there was anything major wrong with the other one, but this one has an option to use more water if you want which is a huge plus. Also, its 5.1 now and the other was 4.7. This model though is the 2nd generation so any mistakes they made on the design on the first one, is all fixed on this one. I usually never buy anything when it first comes out cause its a given that you are most likely going to have some minor problems. Im still waiting for the next iphone 4 and ipad to come out so all the small kinks will be fixed. The customer service I got over at Electrolux was AMAZING! they were very nice and helpful. Electrolux really stands behind there products. I think im hooked on Electrolux now. They have the best designs. Yea, they are more expensive but you really do get what you pay for these days and I feel like my $1,600 plus was well worth it. I wont ever get buyers remorse for buying this and neither would you. Consumer reports rated the old model at # 2. right below Samsung but now with this model out, they will be rating Electrolux # 1.. This model just was ranked # 1 by the EPA for being the most energy efficient Washer ever made. Also im surprised that Samsung got rated so high. They have the worst Customer Service. I dread ever calling them and dealing with them if i ever have to since my TV is Samsung. Not Electrolux though. They are sooo helpful.. and nice! Go check out these new machines! I enjoy doing laundry so much now with this that im washing things that are already clean just to experience this magic over and over. You will love the fast sanitize, fast Steam, Perfect Steam option.. way too many to list. Look up the manual online for this model. then you will see exactly all the options, and cycles that are on this. Don't get this mixed up with EWFLS65I though.. that's the older model

When it changes cycles, especially to spin cycle, we all nearly jump out of our skin. It sounds like a pneumatic catapult launcher banging. And the delicate cycle is anything but. It sounds like the intention is to remove ink and tar stains from burlap bags.
DUCK AND COVER!!!
The only redeeming quality is that on regular cycle, in spite of the noise, does get clothes clean.
If you want a good, reasonably priced, American made washer, look for a Speed Queen. They're a little hard to find but worth it.

Plus, and this is the only way I can describe this, if you've ever had a roomate that left the sponge in the bottom of the kitchen sink and it got all slimy & gross, this is how I can describe what it feels like to step onto the mat about an hour after my husband showers and it's cold and still damp. Like you're stepping on that slimy gross kitchen sponge. It's enough to make you ill. It's the only things that I can compare it to. In addition, if you can even get past that aspect, the material squishes and bunches so much that you can feel the suction cups under your feet as though you're standing on speedbumps. I don't think that we'll be keeping it long enough to find out whether it's truly mildew resistant. All the manufacturer did was stick suction cups to the bottom of the puffy shelf liner that exists for kitchen cabinets. (the one that doesn't let you slide the dishes/glasses into the cabinet) Funny part is, it doesn't move at all in the cabinets, while you're airborne in the shower. A HUGE disappointment.

(More customer reviews)This is my second Briggs & Stratton power washer. The first one died an untimely death, but I blame myself for not draining all the water out before a winter freeze.
Anyway, when I decided to replace it I knew I needed more power (who doesn't?), so I looked seriously at 3,000 psi units. Here's what I liked about the Briggs Power Boss:
1) Honda engine. Kind of strange that Briggs would put a Honda engine on one of their products, but I think Honda makes some of the best small gasoline powered engines. It starts right up and runs great.
2) The sealed pump that requires no maintenance. Considering how much homeowners actually use their pressure washers, I doubt that many (or any) were changing the pump oil as recommended. This eliminates that hassle.
3) The large gas tank lets you run the unit until you're probably thankful that it finally ran out of gas.
4) Pneumatic wheels make the unit easy to move around.
5) Quick-connect sprayer tips.
6) On-board detergent tank. My old p/w just had a suction tube, so if you wanted to move the unit you had to be careful not to knock over the detergent bottle and spill it.
In a perfect world, the pump would be made of solid brass, but that would entail a major cost increase. I would also prefer a longer (maybe 50') hose, but maybe that's the laws of physics kicking in -- it may not be practical on a 3,000 psi unit.
Overall operation is simple, and the unit does pretty much everything I could reasonably expect it to. Anything more and I should get myself a true commercial model, but that's a big jump in price.
I can highly recommend this unit.

(More customer reviews)This is an attractive and affordable chrome toilet brush with two problems: 1) the canister lid, which is attached to the brush handle, hits against the toilet bowl rim as you are cleaning because the handle is too short; 2) it's nice that the brush is detachable so you can replace it later, but it detaches from the handle while you are cleaning, which is not so nice. You have to fish it out of the toilet and screw it back on.
This is a small-ish brush that looks nice sitting next to the toilet, but if you are going to be cleaning your toilet with it, get a better one. The Oxo brush is not as pretty but it works a lot better.

(More customer reviews)I estimate that I have used this washer for 4 loads each week since buying from J&R in early October, 2006. I live in a studio in New York and bought this one because (1) it has a sink adapter, which the front-loading 14.3-lb model didn't seem to include and (2) at 17.5 inches wide/deep, it fit through my bathroom door, which the front-loading 14.3-lb model (at 20.5 inches wide) wouldn't.
Out of the box, you have to install an included metal pan at the bottom. Install it so that it is convex: there's a reason that the legs are so high. One of the problems I had during installation was that one of the screws holding this metal pan to the body comes very close to a clamp holding the gooseneck drain tube as it exits the body. The clamp had fallen out of position, and the end of the screw is close to where the clamp goes. I don't think I was ever in danger of puncturing the drainage tube, but it's something to watch out for.
You need a place to hang the drainage tube, between 31.5 and 40 inches high. The machine cannot fill the tub with water to a height above the maximum height of the drainage path.
On my first two loads, I made a puddle of water on the ground. There were two reasons for this: the first time, the water supply hose was not tightened sufficiently at the machine end, and water dribbled out and behind the machine until I figured out what was going on. With that tightened (I used a wrench), there was no leak. On my second load, I put in too many clothes (more about that later) and there was a water-resistant nylon jacket on top. Just before the very first spin cycle, some water was cupped on that jacket and did not drain out with the wash water. When the tub started to spin, that water came out. I never loaded that many clothes into the washer again, and haven't had any spills since.
During a normal wash cycle, the machine does the following steps three times: fill, agitate, agitate, drain, spin, drain, spin, drain, spin. The second and third iterations are called the "rinse" cycle. Often, the water out of the drain is still bubbly after the second spin. (I use a quarter capful or less of All no-fragrance 3x liquid concentrate.) So, I run another rinse cycle. If the machine detects an unbalance condition during a spin, it will stop, fill the tub with water, and agitate in an attempt to redistribute the clothes before draining and spinning again. I think the machine does this two or three times before giving up and beeping ten times to alert the user of the unbalance condition.
During the agitation process, this machine tends to intertwine long or extended parts of clothing --- shirt sleeves and socks --- into braid-like knots, which often trigger the unbalance condition during the subsequent spin. For example, when I wash four or five long-sleeved shirts together, I always have to untie and separate two or three of the shirts where the sleeves have been twisted together. I think good washing is where the wash water can touch every surface of the clothes, and being tied together prevents this. These problems probably would not happen with a front-loading washing machine.
What is the capacity of this washer? Well, I would say:
2 bath towels; or
2 pairs of jeans or pants; or
2 sweatshirts and 1 pair of sweat pants; or
4 long-sleeved oxford shirts; or
6 small-size undershirts; or
8-12 medium-size boxer underwear.
That's at the "high" water level. You may be able to load more than that, but I think the clothes won't get as clean, and the machine will probably reach more unbalance situations.
I once tried to wash a terrycloth robe. The robe fit in the tub, but the machine always got to an unbalance condition when it tried to spin. I think it's sort of like trying to run a centrifuge with only one tube. Sometimes after the spin cycle I find a sock or a shirt stretched across the middle of the tub, instead of having been thrown centrifugally against the tub walls.
Using my DSC-P71 digital camera in the multi-burst 30 frames-per-second mode and a light and a dark shirt in the washer, I estimate the initial spin at 450 rpm (light shirt passed once every 4 frames) and a final spin at 780 rpm (light shirt passed about 6.5 times in 0.5 seconds - about once every other frame). If I hang the clothes in my studio (not in the bathroom), then they dry in about one day or less, depending on the humidity. It takes much longer if I hang them in the bathroom.
Update (November 2007): This machine is still running. After a year, here are my comments:
After getting tired of the drain tube clamp falling out, I made two small wedges out of a folded-up credit card to hold the clamp in place.
I made a third spill (and this one was a big one): once, the gooseneck drain hose came apart from the U-shaped drain-pipe hook. So, now I check that connection every week or so.
I always run an extra rinse cycle (or two). If I have time, during the spin cycles, I lower the drain tube to allow more sudsy water to drain out. (This is a high-maintenance tactic, though --- it can lead to floods if you're not careful.) Some types of clothes absorb and retain more water (and detergent) than others, and my skin is better after more of the detergent is rinsed out. You can take just-washed clothes from a standard washing machine and re-rinse them here to check how much detergent is left.
Update (April 2008): In the past two months, I have had two more major spills. Both times, it seems that the water-level sensor got stuck and failed to tell the inlet valve to shut off. When this happens, the water overflows the tub and comes out the bottom of the machine. (Usually, you hear a click when the water level is reached, and then the valve shuts off; but in these cases, the first click never occurs.)
Now that I live in an apartment building with a good laundry room, I use this washer mostly for small items: socks, underwear, undershirts.
Update (April 2009): It turned out that the water-level sensor had failed. The sign of impending failure is that the sensor will sometimes fail to close the valve when set to "high", but will always close at "low" and "medium" water levels. Then, "medium" will stop working and the valve will only close when the water level is set to "low". Since the manufacturer's warranty had expired, I had the part replaced under my credit-card-based extended warranty program. Haier suggested two authorized repair operators; one of them said that they didn't service this model. The other did, and charged $85 (diagnostic service call) plus $60 (labor) plus $21.52 (part). The part had to be ordered and took about five weeks (!) to arrive.

The pump part is fine but something in the wand must of snapped. Also the soap tank just sucks. Holds enough to get halfway a car before it runs out. It also requires their own brand of soap "packets" which isn't cheap considering one packet doesn't even wash a car. Gotta drop the packet in. Add water, wait to disolve and then mix before its ready. The whole reason for me wanting a pressure washer was to save time and $. Even if this thing worked PERFECT which it does not it would take more time and more $ than a car wash or garden hose. Plus I can't overstate the fact that it broke in less than 20 minutes. (More customer reviews)Originally, I purchased the Monster 1200 via their website. After seeing the infomercial several times and the wonders it did on hardwood floors, I was hooked! When I purchased the steamer, I also received the bonus bottle of cleaning solution, a window/mirror squeegy and floor mopping attachment. WHAT A JOKE! (As a previous review stated) the bottle ran out within minutes. The squeegy leaves streaks. The floor attachment leaks steam - it burnt me twice. What's more, the steamer spews hot water before it actually emits steam! This products does not steam fabric wrinkles as advertised (not even sheer curtains)!
IT STEAMS...that's it. It does make cleaning gunk and hard-to-reach placed easier, but there are cheaper and SAFER products out there that do the same thing! BOTTOM LINE: Not worth the cost and does not meet my expectations. I gave it 3 stars because I did actually use it regularly...until it was dropped yesterday and stopped working.

Last week, it stopped heating up. The dryer is over 10 years old, as is the washer and they are a bit rusty, so I looked at replacing them. The reviews I read on new washers and dryers showed me that they are not as reliable and don't wash as good as the older models. There are some energy and water savings to be had with newer washers, but it would take years for that to repay itself, and I'd have a lower quality washer and drier in the mean-time. I also looked at getting a new gas dryer, which would cut my energy bill, but was looking at about $500 for a high quality one. Again, not worth the savings...
So, I unplugged the dryer and flipped it forward. I found that the people who installed it had crushed the exhaust duct, which resulted in it filling with lint and increasing drying times, not to mention creating a fire-hazard.
I removed the duct and back panel, which had 9 screws holding it on. Once I pulled the panel off, I instantly saw that the spade connection to the heating element had burned itself into oblivion. The connector went into the thermostat, so I needed a new thermostat as well. I found the part numbers at sears.com, which showed the heating element to be back-ordered.
I did a google search which showed this kit on Amazon, so I ordered it. It took a little longer than desired for it to come, but within the estimated window. I am really spoiled by the free 2-day prime shipping, so paying extra for expedited shipping and having it take 4 days is a bit galling. Oh well...
The heating element was held on with 2 screws. After removing them, it slid right out. The thermostat included with this kit was different from the original, so I had to cut a wire and install a spade connector, but that was easy. The kit did not include the screws needed to attach the thermostat to the heating element, so I had to dig some out of the shop. The original setup had no screws holding the thermostat on as the terminal held it on, but this kit has a wire, which will not hold it on. The same screws that hold the back panel and the heating element on will work, so you can pick some up before this arrives.
Once the wires were back in place, I buttoned everthing back up, installed a new metal duct(plastic is a fire hazard) and put the dryer back in place. I fired it up for 30 seconds and popped it open, instant heat!!!
The new heating element had an odor, so I ran it for 10 minutes to "break it in" but now it is working like new!
This was an easy repair that anyone who is a bit handy could do. The most involved part was cutting the wire and installing the included crimped connector. If you can do that, you are good to go. The drier is also pretty light, so it is easy to flip forward. Always make sure to unplug before opening up electrical appliances, of course...

(More customer reviews)Bought this front-loading dryer as a pair with the Maytag MHWE200XW washer for our newly constructed basement laundry room (replacing 17-year-old Maytags that were working fine and readily found a new home).
In addition to updating our old units to modern, energy-efficient front-loaders, we selected this pair for (a) their stack-ability, a must to fit our small room, (b) their overall stacked height of 72" - the only pair we found that would meet our height clearances (most others were 78-79"), and (c) the side-venting option, another must due to our no-rear-clearance situation. This pair also turned out to be the cheapest in this category, and the washer had several good reviews, despite being a new model, and despite reading about Maytag quality taking a downturn a few years back. (The brand is now owned by Whirlpool and quality & reliability seem to be back up to par with Whirlpool appliances).
Redirecting the exhaust to the left side vent turned out to be a DIY project, with no instructions about what parts were needed or how to install available anywhere -- installation guide, the web, or even Maytag Customer Service. The Maytag Side Venting Kit (Item # 1456003) was not available anywhere locally, and an online purchase plus ground shipping totaled ~ $65. Instead, I purchased two elbow pipes and two 4" clamps from Home Depot ($10), and reused the large exhaust pipe and the knock-out plug already installed in the unit.
Installing turned out to be relatively easy, involving removal of the lower front panel (two exposed screws on the bottom front) to access the screw connecting the exhaust pipe to the exhaust fan assembly, and removing a dozen screws to remove the top and then rear panel to access the space where the exhaust direction needed to be changed. I cut 7" off the 23" standard exhaust pipe, clamped on one elbow set to turn 90 degrees, clamped on the second elbow set to go "straight" (needed an 7" straight section and the elbow set to straight was 8" and worked great), drilled a ?" hole at the end of the straight elbow through which to thread the sheet metal screw to tie it back into the fan assembly, and put the new pipe assembly into place. To secure it in place to the bottom of the dryer, I used a 2" metal angle bracket, bent slightly to match the curvature where it met the pipe. A small sheet metal screw secured it to the pipe and another sheet metal screw secured it to the bottom, through the ready-made hole meant for the side-vent kit pipe with the attached bracket. Finally I duct-taped the removed "knock-out" to cover the now exposed rear hole. The whole process took me a about 3 hours, designing on-the-fly (with these instructions, it should be an hour's job for a relatively handy homeowner with basic tools).
The last adjustment was replacing the 3-prong 220v outlet with the newer 4-prong type ($6) that now includes a ground wire (some quick googling provided the correct wiring and voltage-checking approach). This eliminated the need for a separate water pipe-grounded wire required by code and made for a neater and updated power installation. It was an even exchange to substitute the 3-wire cable I'd purchased with the 4-wire one.
HD delivery then returned to complete the installation, including the wiring, hoses, leveling and stacking (I could have done that but this way if there are any post-install operating problems HD will take responsibility to make it right).
Both appliances are now installed and working! The washer is very quiet during the wash cycle, quiet enough during hi-speed spin, very stable (no "walking") and low vibration, just as advertized. The wash cycles we've tried are turning out very clean clothes. The dryer is similarly quiet, nearly vibration-free, very stable atop the washer, venting to the side nicely, and is drying clothes just great. (I leave the subtleties on laundry operation to my wife, but she seems quite happy with the pair).
Overall so far: 5 stars; am not discounting for the lack of side-vent instructions.

Holdstix - Easy to Use Chopsticks Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these because my kids kept stealing the "big people" chopsticks when we order sushi or Chinese food. They boys are 5 and 7, so I don't expect them to have the dexterity to use real chopsticks any time soon. What I was looking for from these was: a) fun, and b) improvement of their fine-motor skills. NOTE: While appreciably easier than regular chopsticks, these still require a little work.
So far, the boys love them. They've been used for almost every meal we've had since we got them. (If I had known, I'd have bought them for the sheer humor factor: imagine a 5-year-old trying to eat spaghetti with chopsticks and you'll know what I'm talking about)
Just one thing: there wasn't anything on the package about whether they are dishwasher safe. We put them in the dishwasher, in the top rack, in a dishwasher-safe basket that we use for such things. One of the chopsticks got warped to the point where it was unusable. Bummer.
All of the others were fine, so maybe this was a fluke. I don't know for sure.
Regardless, I recommend these (again, if only for the humor!)

A Quick Update: I received a package in the mail the other day -- a brand new set of Holdstix, with a note (hand-written!) that says "Sorry about the warped Holdstix. Please accept this replacement.", and signed by "Lynn". It's important to note that I didn't call them, or email, or whatever. All I did was submit my review.
Wow.
This tells me two things: a) the company is actually reading customer reviews, AND b) they are doing something when they read the reviews. Many companies don't take the time to gather passive customer feedback, and those that do gather such info don't often do anything active / positive with it. Compac obviously views customer feedback as important, AND they are acting on it.
Again: Wow.
Yes, I'd recommend this product, AND THIS COMPANY, to my friends.

There is a little computer on the front that is user-friendly, the inside lights up, and your laundry products go into a drawer on the front with measurements that are easy to see. Some of my clothes came out almost dry because it extracts the water so well! The capacity is good because I was able to wash a king-sized bulky comforter in it. I bought the matching dryer at the same time and both are worth the investment. My last pair was from Maytag and the repairman was busy at my house, not like on the commercials.

That I could understand, but the kicker came when the handles to tighten and loosen the extension rods locked up. I could not budge them one way or the other. It was absolutely infuriating. I tried using a strap wrench and other tools, but the thing would not move, rendering it impossible to store. I ended up throwing it away. If you have $140 to flush, be my guest. If not, look for another solution.

I mean, you can have the same pair in some orthodox color, like white, for $200 less in any store! I can't believe I did this, but I had no choice. My wife and daughters explained to me (in some details) that for a woman red washer is the same as red Porsche for a man. Personally I never had a red car or a Porsche nor an inclination to buy that stuff, but apparently there is something in a hart of a man that should have made the metaphor totally clear to me. Well, it did not. I confess, eventually I just gave in: family happiness is more important than $200 and Samsung delivered. The pair has been working great so far. No problem at all. The ladies are happy, the clothes are clean, the washing is quick and quiet. All things considered, this is a great buy!

It has been a month since we got the washer and we are still happy. We had a chance to experience the error handling: a few days back a washer just stopped in the middle of the cycle, played some music and displayed an error code. The error code table that came with the washer was really useful and in no time we found what the filter was clogged with the lip gloss our daughter left in her pocket. Took the filter out, cleaned it, the cycle resumed with no problems.

(More customer reviews)We have this set up on carpet, so the fact that it's a little thin makes little difference for us. We just didn't want our baby's face in the carpet constantly (I believe there are carcinogens in the stain sealants and we live in an apt. so don't see much point in shampooing or anything). The only thing that's annoying is the letters and numbers pop out of the mat which I don't really like because I know he's going to rip the thing apart as he gets older (he's 9 months now). But, he has taken a couple little tumbles and not cried so the mat combined with the carpet underneath must make a decent amount of padding while providing a stable, firm surface for him to practice being more mobile. All in all it was a good purchase for me but know that it is slightly thing (like it says, 3/8 in thick) and it can be taken apart easily (by you or your baby).
Edit: Now a couple months later we had to take it up. I don't know why, but it attracts ants that we couldn't get rid of. No matter how much vacuuming, wiping down on top and bottom they kept coming back even when we made sure my son didn't have a crumb on him left from lunch. I suspect the problem is the texture. Lots of little grooves for food to get into which makes it really difficult to clean. We'll probably put it back down this winter, but we disassembled it because it was just a harbor for ants and too hard to clean. Upside was we put it in the washing machine successfully.

(More customer reviews)This heating element replaced one in our oven that may have been original with the oven (the oven came with the house, so we don't know how old the whole thing is). This heating element works great...maybe better than the old one. The only headache I had was screwing the plate into the wall of the oven. The screws are very short and they were a little fat for the holes that were there. But some extra elbow grease got them in and they are holding tight. And the old unit was attached with three screws. This unit only has two.
This was probably the cheapest heating element I could find and I really can't argue that it's a good investment.

(More customer reviews)I first stumbled on to these sliders a month or so ago as we were moving into a new house. They worked so incredibly well that I have used most of the entire line they manufacture to put them on just about every piece of furniture I have.
In fact they saved me from a very difficult situation where I was installing a 60" plasma TV plus video receiver, Blu Ray, etc, etc on a 62" glass TV stand. Thankfully, after putting the sliders on the feet of the TV stand, I was able to assemble and wire the enitre lashup with the unit pulled out from the wall, and then singlehandledly push the entire loaded stand back into place. The combined weight had to be well over 150 pounds. Since the entire system ends up sitting between two tall tower storage units, there would have been no way for me to assemble it in place and then lift the TV onto the top of it, no matter how many people helped me.
I have also made good use of their "temporary" large disk sliders that you place under the legs of something you might need to move just once.

(More customer reviews)This product fixed my "Roper" brand washing machine's problem. It would not put out any cold water, just hot water. That made the washer unable to perform the Rinse cycle because it uses cold water for that (but I used a redneck workaround and just ran my cold water into the washer basket with the hose coming over the top of the machine from the wall). My wife flooded our washroom several times using the "cold water hose" method to fill the washer, so I decided to fix the problem to save her the hassle.
This inlet valve was an exact replacement part for the one I took out of the washer. The solenoid doohickey that the cold water hose was supposed to connect to on my old valve was all rusted, while the hot one was not. If your washer won't put out one or the other hot/cold water, check the inlet valve.
Be sure to find your washer's model number to search for parts for it - that's how I found the proper part.
BTW my wife thanks you for making her laundry time easier.

Pros: Good quality. Light. Easy to carry around the house. comes with heavy duty scrub brushes, shampoo brushes, and a couple buff pads. Two speeds, easy to assemble, does a good job with light workload. It's a bit too light to really dig deep, but it did do a great job on my tile floors.
Cons: No convenient way to stand it up with the brushes attached. You have to kind of lean it on something, which is a bit of a pain if you want alternate between scrubbing and mopping. Also, the handle to release water from the tank is on the front of the machine, so you have to take one of your hands off the handle and reach for it. This is difficult because you really need two hands on the handle while it's scrubbing. If you only hold on with one hand, the thing starts going crazy and can get out of control, so dispensing liquid becomes a bit of a juggling act. Quite honestly, it's much easier not to use the tank at all. Just dump a bunch of cleaner on the floor and go to town. All in all a good buy. Good for household cleaning. Not something you should expect to use for a business.

How does this machine compare with other brands?? Most other brands of polishers have plastic gears which can strip easily however Koblenz polishers have bronze gears for extra long life. Other polishers are built with a lot of plastic parts however Koblenz polishers use more metal.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this rinse aid cap from Amazon after the original dislodged from my Kitchenaid Dishwasher(Model#KUDP02CRBL3) and settled on the bottom of the tub whereby it was melted by the heating element. I called Kichenaid and they offered to sell me a replacement for $29.00 plus shipping. This was more than enough motivation for me to shop around. For $10.89 and no shipping (Free Super Saving elgible), I purchased this one from Amazon and it fits perfectly. Subsequently, Kitchenaid called back to respond to the dissatified customer response that I had lodged and offered to lower the price by half plus shipping. Too little, too late Kitchenaid. This part apparently fits Kitchenaid, Whirlpool, and some Kenmore dishwashers. My research also revealed that this appears to be a common issue with these dishwashers and Kitchenaid is incurring customer disatisfication with their price gouging on this part. Thanks Amazon.

Siege Dishwasher Machine Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I'd like to say it works great but what I have to say is I hope it works as well as I would expect it to. I did not wait until my dishwasher was having problems or emitting an odor before being concerned about keeping it clean. I learned a long time ago that in-depth cleaning should be part of monthly maintenance on kitchen and laundry appliances so mine are all cleaned on a monthly basis.
The water here is very hard and even with a water softener there are still signs of staining and mineral deposits on various things in the house. Just because I can't see any build-up or stains in the stainless steel tub of my dishwasher doesn't mean that they aren't there somewhere. Even if you don't have hard water, you need to use a cleaner on a regular basis to get rid of the gunk that you can't see down in the pump(s), pipes or tubing, and in or under the filter. Just because you don't see it on the surface that doesn't mean it isn't there. You would probably be horrified if you remove the filter and look down in there before cleaning.
The really great thing about the Siege Dishwasher Machine Cleaner is that this is not a single use bottle. It containes enough for around 15 dishwasher cleanings. That's a big money saver compared to some other better known brands. Fill your detergent cup(s) with Siege, select normal cycle and next time you open it you'll be greeted with a nice clean machine. Although I had not noticed any discoloration in my stainless tub dishwasher, it was definately brighter after being cleaned with Siege.
The only negative comment I have is about the claim that it removes rust. I have a knife, part of a stainless steel set, that somehow got rusty. Since Siege claims to remove rust I did put it in the silverware basket. If any rust was removed I couldn't tell. The only thing the bottle says about cleaning ingredients is that it is acid based. Many cleaners are, or used to be, based on citric acid which will remove stains but I've not known it to ever remove rust.
As an additionl note, if your dishwasher drains into your garbage disposal, as most built-ins do, as the acidic cleaner drains through the disposer it will provide some cleaning and deodorizing effect to your disposer.

Per the trouble-shooting section of the instruction manual, I checked all the connections to make sure none were sucking air, and then I tried again, but the unit still would not create any water pressure. I phoned the manufacturer and was given the same advice (check the connections), so I did that again without luck. Frustrated, I set it aside and tried again today. This time I wrapped thread seal (plumber's tape) on the threads of the connection between the wand and the pressure hose. I also replaced the gaskets in the inlet hose; however, the fourth time was not a charm - the unit's motor ran and the water flowed, but with no more pressure than a garden hose. It's heading back for a refund.

I was a bit nervous about selecting these machines to purchase after reading a few complaints (overall, there weren't too many) about clothes not being cleaned, an occasional mechanics problem requiring resolution, noise, etc. and had decided the machines were either 'love it' or 'hate it.' I took the plunge anyhow and am so thrilled I did!
After owning the machines for a brief time, I can proclaim I'm definitely in the 'LOVE IT!' camp! Further, without wishing to offend anyone, I will even imply people who are in the 'hate it!' camp 1) perhaps have not read their instruction manuals thoroughly so they know how to properly use and care for their machines as well as understand their limitations, or 2) perhaps aren't using the machines properly. There seem to be some service / part replacement complaints from people, but those seem centered around models with earlier manufacturing dates than the set I own.
I have never been able to get my whites this clean without bleach or OxiClean or some other whitening agent, so I was truly impressed with the Silvercare feature (especially after wondering if it might be just hype and marketing). Silvercare really works, and works well! I can confidently sanitize things without worrying about using a great deal of resources other than cold water to do so, and ditching the bleach is a wonderful thing - I really don't think I'll need to use it anymore!
The steam features have already helped remove dirt and stains my last washer could never remove, leaving me quite impressed, and the refresh cycle on the dryer is a real boon when there isn't time to iron or quick-wash. I love being able to deep-steam more heavily soiled items like my son's soccer gear and have them come out looking pristine!
These machines are every bit as quiet as advertised - I can barely hear the washer (properly leveled) operating, and this allows me to do laundry at my convenience even at nighttime without disturbing the rest of the household. The dryer is dramatically quieter than my last one as well, and the lack of overall laundry noise is fantastic!!
I love the beauty of the machines - the polished understated glamor of the platinum set is fantastic. I'm very pleased to have them seen instead of feeling like I have to hide my washer and dryer from visitors who might enter the laundry room.
Although definitely not inexpensive, these machines are well worth the price considering the load of amazing features they utilize and the increased capacity of the washer and dryer drums. I'm very much looking forward to saving on our utility costs because of them! I would heartily recommend these beauties to my friends and family, and encourage anyone out there still on the fence to buy them with confidence!! I love them, and am confident if you read the manuals and use them properly you will too!!! =)

(Under normal operations if you turn the timer knob fast and aggressively the internal gears get stripped, which in my case, caused the spin cycle not to run at full speed leaving the laundry really wet at the end of the cycle.)

Currently we have had around 10 pumps fail out of around 30 installed and we just had another one fail last week. Our distributor told us that Diversitech said they are not having any issues with the pumps which is the typical crap you get from companies that are having problems with their products. We are no longer using these pumps and we did get our money back for the pumps; however, we did not get any money back for our time to go out and replace the pumps.

I am a big fan of buying reconditioned items simply because they are checked and double checked for any problems and you usually get the best bang for your buck. I got mine for $279 which was two hundred less than a brand new one. I received this two days after I ordered it and it was packaged almost as if it was brand new. Putting it together was fairly easy and I was off to do some much needed power washing. This unit did not disappoint in the least. It started on the first pull and I felt the power immediately. The Honda engine is great and the pnematic wheels make it easy to move around. For me, there is no need for a turbo nozzle because the settings it comes with are extremely powerful and good for almost any task. For $279, I would buy this immediately if you need a good strong pressure washer.

I bought mine from a local dealer, after reading about this new model from a popular mechanics article and award, but I think my review may be useful to others here. The setup of the generator is very easy and only took me two minutes. Generac includes your first maintenance kit with the generator (this comes in handy, I will explain later.) I got my generator about a two weeks before Wisconsin (where I live) got hit with a huge blizzard 24" of snow and 40mph winds with -5 F temps. We lost power for almost 24 hours - my wife, who was very annoyed that I bought this unit just before the holidays, changed her tune greatly when our house was the only one on the block with heat and christmas lights running. The Generator performed great the entire time. Since Generac includes the maintenance kit I didn't have to run aroud trying to figure out where to buy the oil filter as the unit needs to have oil and filter changed after the first 30 hours (break in period.)
Now to the features, this model surges to 5000 watts and is very compact and sturdy. The best feature is the built in power meter that allows you to know how loaded the generator is without having to add up the watts. Also, the power quality is very good with this unit and I had no problem running my computer or LCD tv throughout the storm. The noise level, which I expected to be very loud, was not bad at all. I had no problem standing next to the unit while talking to all my neighbors about why I still had power.
I am not too concerned about reliability because I bought a Generac because my father has had an older model portable for 13 years and my Uncle has had the same Generac Portable for almost 30!! Also, I have a Pressure washer with a Generac engine on it for 12 years and have never had a problem (lots of use too.) Plus, the unit comes with a two year warranty

First off, I bought it to mainly clean hard floors (vinyl flooring mostly) but the steam sprays forward from one nozzel as opposed to down onto the floor. It sprays forward into a terry pocket that fits on the end of a wand, so the terry gets soaking wet and the floor gets the same cleaning as if you mopped with hot water! I used to own a Eureka Enviro-steamer that sprayed the steam down through several vents directly thru a terry bonnet onto the floor... straight down!! The Eureka worked fabulously except that I had to refill it 3 or 4 times to do all my floors so I gave it away and wasted my hard earned $$$ on this piece of garbage. Now, fast forward to 8 months after I buy it and the on/off switch that controls the steam flow is broken and I cannot turn it OFF!! So I can't use this thing at all because it doesn't build up pressure because the water is spraying out of the tip before it can generate any steam because it won't shut off!! I called the company after an hour of searching the web to find out who to call and guess what????? I have to pay to ship this thing to them with ALL the attachments and then pay to have it shipped back to me!!! DO I NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER 40 OR 50 DOLLARS ON SHIPPING????????? Needless to say, I'm aggravated as all get-out over this thing and my husband is mad that I gave away the Eureka on top of it all!!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! BETTER YET, EVEN IF YOU ARE OFFERED IT FOR FREE DON'T BOTHER!!!

However, if one takes the time, this machine it's incredible. the first thing I noticed was the clean odor when vacuuming. I don't have to put any kind of deodorant or pellets in the bag. The unit assembled fine. According to the manual the engine did not have any oil. So, I turned the unit on its side and put in the correct amount of 10W-30 oil. Then I tried to start the engine. I could not get the engine to turn over. I was pulling so hard on the rope-- I was afraid that I was going to break either the rope or pulley. So, I pulled the spark plug out and discovered the top of the cylinder was full of oil. So, I drained all the oil out of the unit and replaced with the proper amount. (This unit must have been shipped with oil in the engine and shipped upside down.) The engine then started up fine.
The power washer really worked great for 2.5 hours. I was cleaning off concrete that had rock on it for the last 15 years. The rock had really stuck to the concrete. In fact it looked like red paint. The high water pressure really cleaned the concrete. It looks like new concrete now with the white color. When I started to put up the unit I discovered one side of the axial had broken loose.
It had a couple of places it had been welded. This unit cleans so good that I hate to give it back to the company. So I decided to repair the unit myself. I installed two U bolts around the axial to the units base. That fixed the problem. Wish the factory in China had done the same thing.

I found these on Amazon in my "gold box" on sale. The dimensions were listed so I measured and ordered four of them. I gotta tell you-- I haven't sorted laundry since! These laundry hampers are neutral in color and are easy to carry. They each hold about a load-and-a-half of laundry-- two loads if you smash stuff down. I set them in a row on the landing outside of all the bedrooms and the husband and the kids simply put their laundry in the correct hamper. We love them. I wish the insides came out for laundering, but we just spray them down with cleaner and wipe them out.

Doesn't really have a wide range of refinement. As you get on the less pressure side it goes from spray to trickle quite fast. But it does knock it down a notch from my other "paint stripper" wand so it's way more versatile. Great price, normal delivery, satisfied customer.

However, recently it seems to like to stall in the middle of its cycles for no reason. The knob just stops turning while it's on, so it may keep running "in place" and won't progress beyond that point. We haven't had it serviced yet to find out what the resolution might be, but it's very frustrating to have to take your dirty dishes out of the dishwasher to clean in the sink because it won't do what it's supposed to do. And, the water in the dishwasher sits in there until I scoop it out. The filter has been cleaned, so that's not the culprit.

The first Powerwasher we gave away to someone thinking that maybe it could be fixed. The second one we decided to keep thinking maybe we could fix it ourselves. We changed o-rings, gaskets, etc. and nothing worked, so we decided to order this nozzle from Amazon.
This nozzle is EXCELLENT. It works much better than the one that came with the Powerwasher when we first got it. It has alot more pressure and most importantly it doesn't leak.

(More customer reviews)We should really be hired to test vacuum and carpet cleaners, but even so the price of this dream clean machine gave me some pause (okay, a lot). With 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 2 cats and fairly light carpets, we put our cleaners to the test. I have gone through SEVERAL carpet cleaners (roughly 1 every 2 years) and have also had the carpets professionally cleaned. Honestly, this carpet cleaner cleaned as well if not better than the pros, and worlds better than our current Hoover F6207-900 SteamVac Lite Carpet Cleaner with Heated Cleaning.
Pros:
1) Handle can lay back fully with no strain on the hose - I mention this after replacing the hoses several times on previous Hoovers
2) You do NOT have to mix the detergent!!!! Wow - what a great feature, no waste!
3) 2 separate rollers actually scrub the carpet amazingly well
4) No fuss dial system - incredibly easy to go between standard clean, spot clean (does not pick up so you can scrub, scrub, scrub away the years of bad carpet cleaners), and rinse (the water rinse is GREAT!)
5) Easy to follow indicator lights let you know if you know when it is cleaning (detergent), rinsing (water only), or drying (neither light on)
6) Spot clean is easy to follow - actually squirts out the front so you can actually see the spot you are hitting (2 settings, spray or stream)
7) My previous Hoovers had this obnoxious detachable hose reel, and then when the clips that hold it on break, you find yourself dragging accessories around the house - this one is not detachable.
8) The hose remains attached, you don't have to plug it in, so no hose door to break and lose (yeah, I've done that too)
9) Scrubber assembly comes off easily for cleaning (but not the front roller, which might be a problem if you don't maintain it)
10) generous cord longer than previous Hoovers
11) 6 year warranty makes it cheaper than replacing 3 $200 Hoovers with 1 year warranties (just check where your service center is - ours is about 30 miles away and always very responsive)
12) Since it is clear plastic (opposed to grey or purple) it is easier to see when the water being picked up becomes fairly clear indicating you have extracted the maximum amount of dirt you can
Cons:
1) It's big - and heavy - and I have tons of stairs
2) Blue light shining on carpet - this gives me eye strain after a while
3) Waste container - there's no delicate way to dump it - it's opening is like a big bucket and it gets everywhere. I suppose it will get better with practice, and it is easier to clean this way, but I think it was a step backward
4) Very small holes to pour in the detergent and water - buy a funnel since the detergent is pricey
5) Detergent guzzler
Eh's (take 'em or leave 'em):
1) Heat - I don't think it really did much (It didn't feel substantial)
2) Waste container sensor - doesn't detect the detergent well, with the clear plastic, it's pretty obvious when they need emptying/filling
3) Blue light - why blue - simulated uv? It doesn't actually illuminate anything.
4) Carry handle - it's made of molded plastic and is in the back, so... yeah, pretty awkward hoisting it up and down the stairs. But, I really don't have a better option, so am not putting it as a con.
How did it do???
If I had known how well it would do, I would have taken pictures or video, because it is unbelievable. I cleaned my ancient 15 year old carpets (about 1600 sq. feet worth) and actually managed to get them back very near their original color. Shockingly old stains that my kidlets provided that were not removed by the pros or the old cleaners are gone. One caveat here is that I used around 64 ounces of detergent. I started with the professional grade, but used the cheap stuff in the kids' rooms (smells better anyway). Based on the amount used and lack of discernable difference, I cannot recommend the "professional" cleaner but instead Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce, which has what I would call a lemony scent. If you are scent sensitive, then try Hoover 40321128 Deep Cleansing Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce. I use the 4-for-3 to really make it a great buy. In any event, I took my time actually read the directions for once and made sure I did several dry passes. I took advantage of the spot clean followed by rinse only for high traffic areas, used the powered hand tool on the stairs, and the upholstery brush on our chairs. All works admirably providing results that made the initial investment worth it. The carpets look amazing and were dry within two hours (aided along by a hot day).

(More customer reviews)I purchased 3 of these rolling racks and after a legitimate amount of set up effort - I put them together as instructed - 2 of the 3 broke within 10 minutes of hanging clothing. On one a wheel snapped off and on the other the plastic latteral supports at the base kept falling out of their peg holes until the strain on the metal hanging pole caused it to break from its plastic casings at the top rail.
Unless you plan to hang only a few garments, the plastic construction can not support much of anything. Buyer beware.

(More customer reviews)This combo unit is amazing!!! With a very small home, this is great for a small space having an all in one washer dryer unit. It does take a while longer than the traditional washer and dryer setup, however it is worth the extra time.
My favorite features:
Uses less water (12-14 gallons) versus the top load washer I just replaced.
Uses a 110v outlet, so now I can get rid of the bulky dryer vent and the 240V outlet for the dryer I just replaced.
Spins VERY quickly which makes cloths damp not wet like the top load washer we replaced.
When finished, the unit "sings" at you. It plays a cute little jingle!
Gets the cloths VERY clean.
My only negative:
Socks take a bit to dry.
It took us a while to find one, Home Depot ordered it for us.
When we move, I will definitley purchase another one or I will take this with me. I am so impressed by the quality and how nice it is to have it all wrapped into one unit. Its the same size as a regular front load washer.
